Plitvice Lakes National Park is famous for its lakes arranged in cascades. They are separated by natural dams formed as the result of an interplay between water, air and plants.
There are currently sixteen lakes, separated into an upper and lower cluster, collectively covering an area of about two square kilometers, eventually flowing out of the area as the river Korana. The water in the lakes has an array of distinctive colors, ranging from azure to green, grey or blue. The colors change constantly depending on the quantity of minerals or organisms in the water and the angle of sunlight.
It is recommended to reserve a full day and bring proper hiking gear for exploring the park.
To mark the cache as found, visiting either entrance to the park is sufficient (entrance fee).
