The A712 starts on the A75 at Crocketford. It heads in a vaguely northwesterly direction via Corsock and Balmaclellan to round Loch Ken to the north. The A713 is met at a staggered crossroads although this is a new alignment; the roads used to run straight across each other. The narrow bridge across the River Ken is crossed immediately afterwards, after which a couple of sharp bends take the road into New Galloway. This is an epic ride, especially when it gets up on to a plateau in the hills. This is fifteen miles of the very best driving in the region.
Enjoy your ride in either direction!
