This is the first part of the A714 Girvan to Newton Stewart route. The road starts at a roundabout on the A77 on the edge of Girvan and heads south, following the railway line through a pass to reach Pinmore and, later, the River Stinchar. At Pinwherrie it starts to climb again and the railway line is left behind at Barrhill. The A714 is an absolutely brilliant road; it has a good surface and is wide and even has overtaking places.
Enjoy your ride in either direction!
