March Field Air Museum has over 70 aircraft and more than 30,000 individual artifacts; fighters, bombers, cargo aircraft and helicopters.
The big planes are outdoors and there are also hangars. If you want to see the exhibits, it's better to come when the weather is not too hot (or come early when the museum opens).
The museum is not free but parking is. Entrance fee is 10$ (Oct. 2015). If you don't want to visit the museum, you can admire the planes from the parking lot, keep on riding and and still log your find. For example take I-215 and CA-74 to lake Elsinore and Ortega Highway.
About photography: "Vacation style" picture taking is OK throughout the museum (no tripods or camera bags). Hint: Guess what I would like to see in the cache log :D
One thing that might be an issue for some sportsbike riders: They don't allow backbags in the museum.
Viewing the planes from the parking lot is enough (as the museum is not free).
