The A4074 road leaves Reading by climbing through Caversham out of the Thames Valley into the Chilterns. Suddenly you are into open countryside flanked by fields for some miles and then the twisties start. These twisties are called as 13 bends of death because of the poor safety record of a particular stretch of this road. Continue riding for about 4 miles and the road goes down into the valleys and through woods. Once you pass the turn off to Woodcote the surrounding countryside opens up and becomes very downs-ish all the way to Oxford.
Enjoy your ride in either direction!
