The Brecon Loop is a fabulous ride hidden behind the high hedges and out on the open moors. The first part of the loop starts at Merthyl Tydfil. At Merthyl Tydfil turn left onto the A465 and at Rassau take the exit onto the B4261 and soon turn left onto the B4560 towards Llangynidr. The road climbs over the Cefn Onnau at 518m and descends via hairpin bends to the B4558 It then forms a multiplex with this road through Llangynidr. The B4560 crosses the Monmouth Canal and Llangynidr Bridge over the Afon and climbs a little to Pant-y-beili. There it forms another multiplex with the A40 and they go through Bwlch. The B4560 then goes at a constant height (170m) and then falls to Llangors, climbs to its former height to Trefecca.
Enjoy your ride in either direction!
