Gaustatoppen is the highest mountain in the county Telemark in Norway. Views are magnificent and one can see one sixth of Norway's mainland. You can reach the top by hiking of course but there is also a railway (Gaustabanen) built inside the mountain by the army between 1954 and 1959. Nowadays the railway is open for civilians as well. There is a fee for using the railway.
Last 0,5 km is gravel road.
Visit the Gaustabanen station.
