Spanning Dursey Sound, the aerial tramway is Ireland's only cable car, and one of the only cable cars which traverse the sea in all of Europe. It was originally opened in 1969. It is one of the island's main attractions. The journey takes 8 minutes crossing the infamous Dursey Sound where strong tides make travelling by boat hazardous. The island and cable-car are popular with day-trippers and walkers during the summer months. Due to the high numbers of visitors, it is possible that no more visitors will be allowed on the island after a certain time in the afternoon.
Stop at the carpark and enjoy the views to the Dursey Island!
