Ophir Pass is one of the highest in Colorado -the maximum elevation is 11789 feet (3593 meters). It’s a road that provides a connection between U.S. Highway 550 north of Silverton to the historic mining town of Ophir. It is closed during the winter time and when the road is opened in June it is not unusual to find walls of snow up to 20 feet high at the summit.
Road surface is mainly gravel but in some parts it's with bigger stones and holes (surface destroyed by rain and small river...).
There is a very narrow part from the summit to west where it might be impossible to overtake another bike so be careful up there!
