Äkäslinkka and Äkäsmylly are the most prominent sights on the Äkäsjoki river. Äkäslinkka is a stretch of rapids, which feeds the Äkäsjoki mill. The mill was built after World War II, in 1946 and it's still functional.
The location is quite beautiful and there are also some places for a campfire and a cafeteria that is open during the holiday season. Check out the opening hours from the link.
In my opinion the area is worth visiting even when the cafe (or the mill) is not open. My latest visit was after closing time and I really enjoyed the peacefulness of the nature.
The walk from the parking space is about 300 meters (the path is good and there is no climbing).
