Korzkiew Castle - a 14th century Romanesque castle, is located in Korzkiew, Lesser Poland Voivodeship in Poland. The castle is part of the Trail of the Eagles' Nests tourist route.
The first documents from 1352 speak of the mountain Korzkiew, on which was a castle built here by the Syrokomla coat of arms. In the 15th century it was owned by the burghers of Piotr Krupka, then found in the hands of the Ługowski family. In the 16th century it was rebuilt and lost the features of the medieval castle. The newly erected structure was shaped like a wall perfectly suited to the rock formations. An irregular storey building, with cellars carved in stone, surrounded the wall with a gatehouse. During the "Swedish Flood" the castle was probably destroyed, since documents mention its rebuilding in the second half of the seventeenth century. In the following years it was owned by Wodzicki, Dębowski and Czackie. From 1720 until the end of the 19th century served as a hunting mansion. After World War II the castle was operational, but with time it fell into ruin. By the end of the 1990s it became privately owned. The new owner began to rebuild the fortress. At present, the hotel is partially renovated and there are conference rooms. Further work is ongoing. Eventually, it is planned to develop the entire castle hill and its surroundings.
